■ Day 1 (Saturday)
Bratislava
Arrival in Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, surrounded by the green foothills of the Carparthian mountains and the majestic Danube river. Individual transfer and check in at a hotel. Introduction with your tour guide at 4 p.m. Evening welcome dinner at a typical wine cellar where traditional Slovak food is served to the accompaniment of gypsy music.
■ Day 2 (Sunday)
Bratislava - Piešťany
A morning sightseeing tour of Bratislava, including Bratislava Castle and the old and modern quarters of the city. Afternoon departure for Piešťany via Trnava. Sightseeing and relaxation at Piešťany, the crown jewel of Slovak spa resorts specialising in the treatment of rheumatic disorders. Check in and dinner at a hotel in Pieštany.
■ Day 3 (Monday)
Piešťany - The High Tatras
A morning departure for the High Tatras, stopping en-route to tour the medieval fortress of Trenčín. On to the High Tatras, a national park of dramatic mountains and exquisite scenic beauty. Journey on to Tatranská Lomnica and check in at the Grandhotel Praha. Traditional dinner and gypsy music at the restaurant Koliba.
■ Day 4 (Tuesday)
The High Tatras - Pieniny
A full-day trip to the Pieniny National Park, including a thrilling ride on wooden rafts down the white waters of the Dunajec river. Afternoon excursion to the open-air museum of Slovak folklore architecture, a village preserved as it has been for centuries, and old castle ruins in Stará Ľubovňa. Return to the Grandhotel Praha.
■ Day 5 (Wednesday)
Levoča - Prešov - Košice
Morning departure to Levoča. Enjoy a walking tour of the central square, including the renaissance Town Hall and visit the Church of St. James with its magnificent wooden altarpiece. Continue on to Prešov - short stop and check in at a hotel in Kosice, the centre of activity for eastern Slovakia. Afternoon at leisure to explore the city.
■ Day 6 (Thursday)
Košice
A morning sightseeing tour of Košice including visits to the medieval square, the Gothic Cathedral of St. Elizabeth with the high altar - a magnificent piece of wood carving, old cremation tower and Miklušová Prison. Remainder of day at leisure.
■ Day 7 (Friday)
Košice - Banská Bystrica - Bratislava
A morning departure for Bratislava with a stop at the historic mining town of Banská Bystrica. Time for lunch and sightseeing on your own. Afternoon departure for Bratislava, evening check-in at a hotel.
■ Day 8 (Saturday)
Bratislava
Check-out and departure. Transfer to the airport, if applicable.
